What will make every timepiece a classic antique is its rarity, history and uniqueness. Without these three attributes, they may just be another clock in the market. You see, during the times that these clocks were made, they were already of a higher value than what we regard modern clocks of today. Clocks were not commonplace and were made by artisans and specialists by hand. From that viewpoint, these clocks can be priced rather outrageously today just because they can never be made the same way again – clockworks and all. The companies that have been reputed to have made the best clock pieces of the yesteryears have either been out of circulation or declared bankrupt some years back.

History has it, that one of the companies which made the most intricate and sought-after designs known by antique collectors today were from the Sessions Clock Company. Coming from the original E.N. Welch Company that made clocks in Forrestville Connecticut, William E. Sessions reorganized the whole clock company into a new one bearing the name Sessions Clock Company in 1903. After some years, they were making various clock movements, dials, artworks, cases and casting for their own brand of mechanical clocks. After 30 years in business, they made about 52 models of large and small clocks bearing logos of various businesses and companies of that time, wall clocks, mantel clocks and shelf clocks, banjo clocks, schoolhouse clocks, kitchen clocks alarm clocks and regulators. Today, these Sessions clocks are very much sought after by antique clock collectors.
They proceeded to produce electric clocks and timers for radios and television, but after some decades, the company was absorbed and bought by other companies. No sooner, the grandson of William E. Sessions, left the company, to start another another called New England Clock Company. They were left under the management of new owners, until they had to close in 1969 due to the market challenges.
During the many decades of doing business, they managed to create magnificent clocks that are revered today. And because these clocks will never to be made the same way again, they hold a high price tag. Sessions clocks are widely known by antique clock collectors as an institution of intricate clock making that it remains a high profile name for antique collectors and the like.
