New Haven clocks was initially a clustered effort of several companies which included New Haven Clock Company, Seth Thomas, Waterbury and Ansonia clock companies that merged for the purpose of making brass clock movements for the Jerome Manufacturing company, which was the largest clock maker at that time. However, the company was finally purchased by New Haven Clock Company in 1856 when it succumbed to bankruptcy. Although they owned the defunct popular company, they proceeded in marketing it with the previous name of Jerome & Co, as they underlined its product quality and sold it overseas. This was standard practice until 1904.
While they sold clocks for other companies, they also made their most popular dollar pocket watches and wristwatches; and their innovative flying Pendulum, as they became one of the largest American clock makers of the era, and in history. They had a comprehensive list of clock models, and a lot of these are still around today. For of the clock’s craftsmanship and durability and a testament to their enduring work. They made various shelf and mantel clocks, tall case and grandfather clocks, American china clocks and stature clocks, before they closed in 1960.
